SSG Fred V. Overlock Fort Shafter Military Police Battalion
Staff Sergeant Fred V. Overlock is a superior non-commissioned officer
and is by far our "Top Cop." Staff Sergeant Overlock is currently
working as the chief of investigations for the Fort Shafter provost
marshal's office. With this title comes a great amount of
responsibility, and he has far exceeded the standard in all of his
assigned missions and has met every challenge head on commanding only
superior results. In the scope of his duties, Staff Sergeant Overlock
oversees seven investigators, a DA police detective and evidence
custodian responsible for conducting criminal investigations in the Fort
Shafter area of operation. The Fort Shafter area of operation consists
of Fort DeRussy, Waianae Army Recreation Center, Pohakuloa Training Area
and Aliamanu Military Reservation. Additionally, he is responsible for
the apprehension and transporting of all military deserters for the
entire Pacific Rim.
Staff Sergeant Overlock has participated regularly in community
activities as well as the town hall and mayoral meetings, in addition to
his regular involvement with the community family advocacy case
management team. He does so in order to grasp a better understanding of
the community's needs in the area of law enforcement. In addition to
his normal duties that routinely require 60 hour work weeks, Staff
Sergeant Overlock also readily, and without hesitation, puts in extra
hours in order to conduct surveillance missions that help to deter crime
in housing areas.
Staff Sergeant Overlock's leadership, dedication, and selfless service
have proven unparalleled. He has been a motivated law enforcement
officer in this unit and has sought out responsibility far greater than
his duty position dictates. He performs all of his work without
reservation and to the highest professional standards. The legacy that
Staff Sergeant Overlock leaves behind will undoubtedly be felt long
after his departure. Staff Sergeant Overlock is Fort Shafter's "Top
Cop" for 2001.
