1999 HONORESS:
Major General Nancy R. Adams
General Adams is the commander of Tripler Army Medical Center and serves concurrently as the U.S. Army Pacific Surgeon and the Commander of the Pacific Regional Medical Command. Her personal achievements and strong support for discipline, law and order and respect for authority serve as a role model for the military and civilian community.
Paula Akana
Paula Akana, KITV4 news anchor person has contributed selflessly of her time over a period of many years to host the annual Hawaii "Top Cop" recognition ceremony. Her strong commitment to the criminal justice system and her role as a community celebrity with the media has had a significant impact on reducing crime in Hawaii.
Cheryl Apo
Ms. Apo is the assistant general manager of the Hale Koa Hotel, the flagship in the hospitality industry. Her strong support for law enforcement and private security programs and participation with the HJPA as a corporate member has contributed to the HJPA's growth and development.
Danette Bolosan
Ms. Bolosan represents the future of private security and law enforcement. She has assisted the Honolulu Crimestoppers, the Hawaiian Visitor Industry Security Association (HVISA) and the Outrigger Resorts and Hotels in a variety of programs. Ms. Bolosan has been instrumental in the planning and execution of the annual law enforcement appreciation luncheon, known locally as Hawaii's "Top Cops."
Margery Bronster
Ms. Bronster, the Attorney General for the state of Hawaii has received two certificates of merit in the past twelve months. She is the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the state of Hawaii. She sets the highest standards for personal integrity and ethics. She is a role model and is constantly vigilant in fighting crime.
Lt. Colonel Yvonne Doll
Colonel Doll a former Army CID Commander in Hawaii and later the MP Brigade Executive Officer, continues to serve the Hawaii law enforcement community from her distant post as the operations officer, US Disciplinary Barracks, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She is recognized for paving the way for the future female CID agents.
Elise Johnson
Ms. Johnson, owner of Busch Investigations, is an outstanding addition to the Hawaii Joint Police Association. She has established a reputation for administrative excellence and has constantly performed above and beyond the call of duty.
Patricia Jones
Mrs. Jones is the executive vice president for a premier alarm company in the state of Hawaii. Her company, Sonitrol of Hawaii is a pioneer in the security alarm business in Hawaii. Her unassuming manner added to the stature and respect for the Sonitrol Corporation. In addition her loyal support to the Hawaii Joint Police Association has resulted in the HJPA being recognized as a premier private organization dedicated to community service.
Ellie Kaanaana
Ms. Kaanaana is the security officer responsible for the Security Management for the US Navy Public Works Center, Pearl Harbor. She manages the command's Information Security, Personnel Security, Information Systems Security and Physical Security programs. She is well known and respected in the Hawaii law enforcement community. Her willingness to volunteer her time for the many projects associated with ASIS and the HJPA has earned for her the respect and admiration from all with whom she has come into contact. She is a "Top Cop" in every sense of the word.
Marian Kaomea
Mrs. Kaomea is one of those unsung heroes so essential to an organization. She has been the mainstay for the security operations at The Queen's Medical Center and has assisted everybody in their career development. She more than any one person in Hawaii has helped all in the hospital security realm and is most deserving of special recognition.
Sandra Lacar
Ms. Lacar has nurtured and developed the Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii into a world class organization. Her impact on the children in Hawaii has been exceptional and because of people like her, out students have a better understanding and respect for law and order, not found in many other places.
Rene Mansho
Mrs. Mansho the dynamo for the City Council has done more for the police and security officers in Hawaii than any other elected official. Her record speaks for itself. Her willingness to serve sets the example for public servants and she has been a tremendous asset to the men and women of the Hawaii Joint Police Association of which she is a member.
SA Kristin Mum
Special Agent Mum is a newly accredited U.S. Army CID agent who has been in Hawaii for two years. During that time she has performed her missions with distinction and has assisted the Hawaii Joint Police Association in its membership development and monthly program. SA Mum is a role model for today's youth. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and comes from a family totally immersed in the Criminal Justice system. Her potential is unlimited and we are proud to recognize her recent achievements.
Lee Miller
Ms. Miller, the property manager for the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is another lady who has committed her resources to the preservation of public safety. Her management skills and support for law enforcement and private security have added to her stature and prestige throughout Hawaii's criminal justice community.
Lt. Colonel Rose Miller
Lieutenant Colonel Rose Miller, Fort Shafter Military Police Battalion Commander and Area Provost Marshal has consistently distinguished herself as a senior military leader. She is committed to the local community and participates with the Hawaii Joint Police Association and its varied programs. She has fostered goodwill, public respect, admiration and confidence in the Army and the military police.
Commander Davalee G. Norton
Commander Norton, U.S. Coast Guard is a commissioned officer dedicated to the Department of Treasury's mission of combating crime on the high seas. She is a leader that has earned the respect and admiration from her command. Her support for community projects and the Hawaii Joint Police Association sets the example and is appreciated.
Lt. Colonel Sandra Serafin
Lieutenant Colonel Sandra Serafin, USAF is the Commander of the 15th Operations Support Squadron, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. She is responsible for the busiest joint use airfield in the Department of Defense and has orchestrated operational support for US Presidential and numerous foreign Heads of State visits. Her overall contributions as an executive level military commander has contributed to the distinguished accomplishments of Hickam Air Force Base in its entirety, resulting in Hickam being selected as the best US Air Force installation in the world for 1999.
Captain Ginger Sladky
Captain Ginger Sladky, U. S. Army is an outstanding officer who has served the Hawaii Community with distinction. As a member of a Rotary International Group Study Exchange to Hiroshima, Japan in 1998 she demonstrated that she is truly an "Ambassador of Goodwill." Her advice and assistance resulted in the HJPA being able to go on line in 1998. She is now living in the state of New York.
Shirley Streck
Mrs. Streck, a United States Customs Service inspector and lifetime member of the Hawaii Joint Police Association is a person who consistently helps others and makes any organization in which she is a part of better. She is enthusiastic, respected and admired by all in the local community and we are proud to recognize her achievements that are above and beyond the call of duty.
Colonel Ann Testa
Colonel Ann Testa has established a reputation for excellence at Hickam Air Force base as no other in its history. She has received more community awards than any past commander culminating in Hickam being selected for the Commander in Chief's Trophy as the best United States Air Force Base in the world for 1999.
AC Barbara Wong
Assistant Chief Barbara Wong, Honolulu Police Department may be the last name listed in this program, but she is the first name in Hawaii's uniformed police departments. Her accomplishments as a police officer are legendary and her achievements in the face of competition and other obstacles along the way make her a person to be reckoned with. Her performance is a role model for all the men and women in the Honolulu Police Department.
